Happy Holidays!
It is better to give and to receive!

The festive season is upon us! And again I am reminded of my own "personal fortune". I am blessed with a healthy family, a home I love out in the country, wonderful friends I can count on, colleagues that are the wind beneath my wings, and clients that value my offering and are a joy to work with.
I remember when my boys were young, taking them shopping to buy toys for those less fortunate. Then making our annual pilgrimage to the Food Bank to make our donation - food, toys and a donation to hopefully provide a family in need with a very Merry Christmas.
As human beings we need to know someone cares; to be connected. Years ago I read about babies in an orphanage in Romania mysteriously dying although they had enough food. It was later believed to be due to a lack of human interaction. They had so many children to feed they rigged up a bottle feeding system so they didn't have to hold and feed the babies. It seems nurturing is as important as nutrition.
With that in mind, on behalf of clients and colleagues a donation has been made to the Salvation Army. An organization that helps those in need and never turns anyone away - caring for those that need to be cared for, providing nutrition and nurturing.
So this holiday season, when you give, feel good about it. When someone gives to you, fully appreciate it. Somewhere along the line many of us were taught that giving is better than receiving. It seems to me giving and receiving are the circle of life - both equally important. If we are unable to fully receive we miss the joy of life and undervalue the giver. Take in the joys of the holiday season; appreciate those that care for you and those that you care for.
Warm wishes for a joyful holiday season.

This is great advice. You can definitely use this even outside of the Christmas season. Learning to receive well does just what you say- it shows your value in the giver. On a side note, I sure do miss the holiday season!
